Nanomedicine and Developmental Biology Convergence for Advanced Therapeutic Approaches
This book emphasizes the significance of merging nanomedicine with developmental biology concepts to comprehend the pathogenesis and find the cure for various complex diseases. It showcases the fascinating intersection of these two rapidly advancing fields, offering great potential for collaborative advancements in healthcare and science. This book comprises of two main sub-sections; Section A: Recent Advancements in Developmental Biology to Understand the Pathogenesis of Various Diseases. This section delves into the advancements in the field of development biology, aiming to comprehend the development and pathogenesis of diverse diseases like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders. This book also discusses the significance of the confluence of development biology and nanotechnology in tissue engineering. There are several graphical and pictorial illustrations in all the chapters so that the readers can grasp the essence of the topic and have a seamless reading experience. Section B: Smart nano-drug delivery therapy is an emerging therapeutic approach. This section delves into the application of the nanoparticulate drug delivery system, aligned with the insights of development biology, to treat a variety of disorders, such as arthritis and cancer. This section also discusses the importance of CRISPR/Cas9 in diagnosis and treatment, as well as the future of the convergence of nanomedicine and developmental biology. The contributing authors are from different countries and scientific domains, thereby providing this book with a comprehensive global perspective.

Über den Autor
Dr. Yousuf Mohammed completed his Ph.D. in pharmaceutics and skin drug delivery under the guidance of Associate Prof. Heather Benson, Prof Michael Roberts, and Associate Prof. Tarl Prow. He has been working within the field of skin delivery at the Therapeutics Research Centre, University of Queensland—School of Medicine since 2012. His current research includes managing a five-year (2018–2023) US FDA funded project titled Bioequivalence of Topical products: Elucidating the Thermodynamic and Functional Characteristics of Compositionally Different Topical Formulations as a Principle Investigator and managing the five-year project (2014–2019) Characterization of Critical Quality Attributes for Semisolid Topical Drug Products as a co-investigator. These projects aims to improve current regulatory guidelines for topical and transdermal semisolid products. Over the last 6 years, his work has been focused on skin penetration and skin toxicology of drugs and xenobiotics including nanoparticulate materials.
Amitabha Bandyopadhyay is a scientist trained at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York and Harvard Medical School, Boston. He established his independent research group in 2006 at the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Department of IIT Kanpur. In 2012, Amitabha got involved with the institute’s technology business incubator, the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre. In 2018, he became the first occupant of the Kent Chair for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the professor-in-charge of Innovation and Incubation at IIT Kanpur. The overall objective of former laboratory is to uncover the molecular genetic circuit responsible for skeletal morphogenesis. While many of the signaling molecules and transcription factors that regulate these processes are known what remain unknown are the downstream targets of these upstream components. In Bandyopadhyay laboratory, they are trying to uncover such downstream effector genes and integrate those in a gene interaction network governing aspects of skeletal differentiation.
Dr. Saurav Kumar Jha is a research scientist trained at Department of Biomedicine, Health, and Life Covergence Sciences, Mokpo National University, South Korea. After his Ph.D. graduation in February 2022, former joined as the research and development manager of Curex Pharmaceuticals Private Limite, Kavre Banepa, 45210, Nepal, and served the pharmaceutical Industry for a year. At present, Dr. Jha is a research scientist at developmental biology lab, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Department of IIT Kanpur. Dr. Jha area of expertise are physical pharmaceutics, nanomedicine, and drug delivery. Dr. Saurav has excellent publication profile with more than 20 publication and h-index of 9.
Dr. Nadeem Akhtar, a scientist, is currently making significant strides in the animal health and longevity sector for a leading Canadian company, CBS Bio Platforms Inc. His impressive background demonstrates that he has held a variety of important positions in academia and research throughout his career. Dr. Akhtar was a research associate at the University of Guelph, Canada, where the objective of his work was to improve companion animal’s health in order to promote a superior and more health-conscious lifestyle. Prior to assuming this position, he excelled as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Waterloo, Canada (2019–2021) and the Department of Animal Biosciences, University of Guelph, Canada (2015–2019). His accomplishments in the National Eligibility Test (NET-2010) and Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) in Life Sciences (2010) and Biotechnology (2011) further emphasize his academic excellence.
